dove campaign

11Mar11

Just released! My first ad from the new Dove campaign. This was quite a memorable shoot on many fronts, especially since it was my first trip to Budapest. Watching the behind-the-scenes of the Dove commercial was entertaining (and educational). And I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the charming co-directors Paolo Borgato and Tommaso Berté – thanks for being so gracious on set.

The first ad in a new campaign for EOS, a modern, hip line of beauty products.  Look for the rest of the ads in the series, to be coming out in the next few months.  And special thanks to David Hazan and Picturehouse.

Just out – a new editorial story on the beauty of simple, clean makeup.  This was fun, as it was the first time in quite a while that I was able to shoot with all natural light in studio.  It makes such a difference – and it worked particularly well here as the story was for Natural Health Magazine.

This is what we like to do with our little bits of spare time on set — play around with the tech. I’m really interested in the dynamic look of stop motion, even when we’re just documenting our lunch (which was delicious). Thanks Jay!

Just back from spending the holidays in Vietnam and Hong Kong.  Some might say that exploring Asia with two kids under six might not be the most relaxing way to spend a vacation — which is true.  But it was also an unforgettable adventure.

My first time in Budapest – just a quick 48 hours there shooting a beauty ad in and around a commercial.  I loved wandering around the historic city, and somehow on my last night ended up at 3am dancing with the film crew in a nightclub in Pest.

I had a such a nice time with Italian master hairstylist Rossano Ferretti shooting the INOA ad for L’Oreal at his brand new Madison Avenue salon. For a man who owns twenty salons worldwide, he was surprisingly humble and disarmingly sweet. And thank you again for the amazing cut Rossano!

The best thing I did this summer – sailing on a catamaran for a week (albeit in the heart of hurricane season) in the British Virgin Islands with my family.  Waking up every morning alone with ourselves in a sea of pristine blue was indescribable.  It felt a bit like Robinson Crusoe, or I guess, Swiss Family Robinson.  But it was really a special time for us, and a tradition we plan to continue every year.

Shooting Krysten Ritter in chinatown on a saturday in July was perhaps a bit foolhardy.  But Krysten was incredibly sweet and a great sport in spite of the heat and the hoards — and she looked every bit the beautiful starlet.

Some stills from a very special personal project: our weekend video shoot for Rocks Against Cancer, a fundraiser presented by the Farber Center for Radiation Oncology.  I was humbled by the amazing show of support from all my friends and colleagues who came together for such an important cause.  Huge thanks to everyone who donated their talent and pulled their favors — and a special call out to Donna Grossman Casting, Canoe Studios, Karin Bereson + Sylvia Grieser, and Industrial Color, without whom this project would have been impossible.  This one is dedicated to my dear friend Erik Jorde, who is winning the fight right now.

A new editorial story with my favorite kind of beauty – fresh, simple, and on the beach.

Ok, this might be my favorite behind-the-scenes shot.  There are far worse ways to spend your day then standing waist deep in cool water.
