It was quite hectic shooting Byrdie Bell on Hollywood Boulevard for a fashion editorial for InStyle Germany.  Just our small team, german TV crew, one cardboard Elvis, a boy band, and 10,000 tourists.  Byrdie was so brave – I don’t know how she managed to stay effervescent and photogenic for the duration.  Even the King paled in her presence.

I really enjoyed spending time on the water with Olympic sailors (and siblings!) Zach Railey and Paige Railey on our Coastal Living shoot last week.  Their entire family was so welcoming and charismatic – such a delight to photograph.  Good luck to both in Weymouth!

To end a fantastic year, a festive scene from Mary Kay Holiday – here’s to 2012!

Behind the scenes on our cover shoot for Natural Health with Christy Turlington Burns and editor-in-chief Peg Moline.  Christy is absurdly inspirational — her outer beauty is just the tip of the iceberg.  Christy founded and runs Every Mother Counts, an advocacy organization which battles maternal mortality globally.   She is currently pursuing  a Masters Degree in Public Health from Columbia University.  Her moving documentary, No Woman, No Cry, debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2010. And somehow Christy found time to train for the New York Marathon, which she ran as part the EMC team, raising close to $140,000 for this amazing cause.  Take a look and support Every Mother Counts.

Christy was so gorgeous that I couldn’t help but beg a few beauty tips as she left the shoot.  A few tips from Christy:  juicing, pro-biotics, yoga – and a new beauty line Tata Harper Skincare.   See the results in the June issue of Natural Health!

Coats, coats, coats – our shoot, of course, was on a hot sunny day in Dumbo, but Amy Bracco still came out looking cool and breezy.  Editor:  Caroline Baxter. And a special thank you to Carlos Rojas from Industrial Color.

Featured in this month’s issue of ADAC Reisemagazin, I had a great opportunity to shoot portraits of stylist New Yorkers in their favorite haunts.  From shooting a Blue Man on the steps of Lincoln Center, to fashionistas in the meatpacking district during Fashion’s Night Out, to an author in the New York Public Library, this shoot was a whirlwind tour through the iconic and eclectic spots of New York.  I’d forgotten how many amazing places there were….   Thanks very much for the keen eye and styling by Kathrin Leist and Julia Wilczok.

Rule number 1.  Never be photographed directly next to an Olympic athlete (thanks Kristen for being my buffer), especially when that athlete is  Olympic swimmer Dara Torres.  The astounding fact I learned when photographing Dara for Coastal Living is that Dara is about to compete in her 6th consecutive Olympic games.   Oh, and that she brought home 3 silver medals in 2008.  I don’t think just cutting out carbs is going to help me here.

While reading Star Magazine this weekend (market research), I came across the newly released print ad for EOS (the evolution of smooth) beauty products.  Thanks to quite a stellar team, a bit of experimentation, and lots and lots of lotion, the concept of creative director Johnnie Ingram was brought to life.  Special thanks to PictureHouse.

We spent a beautifully relaxed day alongside birds, butterflies and tide pools shooting the amazing Angela Lindvall in Malibu Lagoon State Beach last week.  Angela is more than just gorgeous – she’s so mellow and centered, and she gave me some fantastic life advice – yup I’m working on my life pie chart right now. And she’s practically convinced me to uproot my family to LA.  Reuniting with the talented Steven Arturo (seen here) was an unexpected bonus.
